Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 10, 2026
Nounable (nounable.me) is a free daily puzzle game run by an independent developer. This page explains, in plain language, what data the site handles and why. The short version: there are no accounts, no email sign-ups, and no passwords. The game only needs enough data to remember your progress, understand how the site is used, and show ads that keep it free.
What we collect and store
Anonymous authentication. When you play, Firebase Authentication creates an anonymous account for you in the background. This gives your device a random identifier so your progress can be saved. It does not include your name, email address, or any profile information; we never ask for or collect those.
Game history. Your puzzle results (guesses, scores, streaks, and completion status) are stored in Google Firestore, keyed to that anonymous identifier, so your streaks and stats persist between visits.
Local storage. The game caches your in-progress state, theme preference, and similar settings in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device; clearing your browser data removes it.
Analytics
Nounable uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the game is used in aggregate: for example, how many people finish the daily puzzle or where players drop off. This involves cookies and device identifiers processed by Google. We use this data only to improve the game, and we do not sell it or use it to identify individuals.
Advertising
The site is supported by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads, and may use data about your visits to this and other websites to show ads it considers relevant to you. You can learn how Google uses data from partner sites at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. Additional opt-out tools are available at aboutads.info.
What we don't collect
Nounable has no user registration. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, payment details, or precise location. We do not sell personal data, and we do not send marketing emails (we couldn't, since we never have your email).
Data retention and deletion
Anonymous game history is kept so that streaks and stats work over time. Because the identifier is anonymous and tied to your browser/device, clearing site data effectively disconnects you from that history. If you would like data associated with your anonymous identifier deleted from our servers, email us and we will remove it.
Children
Nounable is a general-audience word game. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children; it does not collect personal information like names or emails from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles data changes (for example, if new features require new data), this page will be updated and the effective date above revised.
